The Unstoppable Zoey Noble.

Singer/Songwriter Zoey Noble is a bit of a contradiction.

If you think you have an idea of her personality from the smooth groove of the title cut from her record, Feel This Way, well… you’d be a bit off the mark.

While the song is a modern tune, it carries the familiar feeling of a song that could easily have come on after Wings or Steely Dan on FM radio in the late ‘70s. However, the song could also feel at home alongside modern hits from Ed Sheeran and Benson Boone.

Zoey herself? Well, she’s a bit less laid back than her musical presentation.

When we met for coffee to talk about her music and her upcoming show at The Village – co-headlining with The Bridge Tones – Zoey sat down without a coffee or other beverage, saying, “I’ll grab a coffee after we’re done.”

I suggested that I could certainly wait while she grabbed one.

“No, this is better,” Zoey said with a laugh. “If I have a coffee, you may not be able to get any questions in.”

Having grown up in a musician’s household (her father, Bob Noble, is an accomplished musician – and the guitarist in her band), it was inevitable that she’d pick up an instrument at some point.

In Zoey’s case, at the age of 15, her father handed her a bass guitar with the instruction to, “Play bass on a blues song with me.” She obliged, and basically kept playing from then on. Now, she fronts her band, singing and playing bass in the earthy blues style that she’s become well known for amongst fans.

Based on the musical maturity evidenced on her album, it appears to be a foregone conclusion that Zoey is bound for fame. One expects that time and experience will only add to the depth and breadth of her musical self-expression.

Catch Zoey Noble at The Village on November 14, alongside The Bridge Tones. Tickets are available here.
