SAMARITAN SNARE
Like many bands of the past two decades, Samaritan Snare was formed by an encounter in a big box music store. Drummer Joe Fuscia was working as the Lessons Manager when Singer/Guitarist Kacy Raby came in looking for a job teaching guitar. Joe asked for him to play a bit and almost immediately said, “We need to be in a band together.” This was in 2018, and the pair started immediately writing songs together. (And Kacy got the teaching job, as well, of course.) The band was complete with the addition of Bassist Logan Ressler and Alex Hart on guitar.
Fuscia describes the band as “Boss Battle” music – meaning, the music you hear during the climactic battle in a video game. He also mentioned “mathy” as a description, and – after listening to their debut EP, “Living Statue” – makes perfect sense, in that the rhythms and construction of the songs somehow feel both calculated and spontaneous. It’s certainly no small accomplishment.
The band is obviously genuinely fond of one another, as well. As we gathered for a brief chat, the jokes and good-natured kidding started before anyone even sat down. Chemistry is the one factor that you can’t fake – and the members of Samaritan Snare have fantastic chemistry, which comes through in their music and live performance.
