My Three Favorites
Rep. Nikki Rivera

PA State Representative (House District 96)

One of the best decisions ever was to move to Lancaster in 1995, when I married my husband, Ramón. He was a science teacher at Wheatland Middle School, and I loved visiting him here in Lancaster on weekends during the year that I was completing my teaching certificate at Shippensburg University. We bought our first home in Manheim Township, near Lititz Pike and Buch Avenue. Ever since, we've been exploring Lancaster County together, growing more and more fond of the area where we've raised our family. Lancaster is a treasure.

One of the aspects that I love most about Lancaster is the outstanding public school education available for families. Our kids experienced a wide variety of courses and curriculum that challenged them, intrigued them, and helped them grow in their curiosity of the world around them. Rigorous coursework, hands-on programs, academic support, arts, languages, music, athletics, clubs, field trips, and more have prepared our family for "adulting" and making a great life for themselves and their future families.

Another fascinating component of Lancaster is the abundance of arts and culture that surround us. Diversity is our strength, and experiencing so many cultures through the arts certainly brings us closer together in our understanding and appreciation of each other. Central Market, Gallery Row, Pennsylvania College of Art & Design, the Fulton Theatre, the Ware Center, museums, libraries, record stores, fairs and festivals, and many small businesses help to create the unique feel of Lancaster – a city with so much small-town charm.

My favorite date night with my husband is going to a restaurant or brewery for dinner, listening to live music, and just relaxing and talking. We have so many wonderful options to choose from in Lancaster! From food trucks to pop-up beer gardens, fine dining to family dining, there's something to whet everyone's appetite.

There's no place my husband and I would rather raise our family and grow old together.
