Inflation? In-Fashion

We know that your dollar is not going very far at the moment. Inflation has hit every part of our lives and — as the necessities all cost more and holiday gifting is notably more costly than just last year — something in your budget has to give. But you deserve to feel fashionable and beautiful this holiday season, at any budget!

We posed a challenge to two talented local singers, Lindsay Bretz Morgan and Jeanette Wehye: Put together and purchase a stunning holiday celebration-ready outfit for less than $100. The rules were pretty simple: Their $100 budget did not have to include shoes or jewelry, as those could be sourced from their own closets. Other than that — don’t spend more than $100 and make sure you look great. As you can see — they made it work and are holiday stunning!

How They Used Their $100:

Jeannette: Jeannette sourced her shoes from her own closet (but she wanted to note that they were unworn and only cost her $10 when she purchased them from Shoe Show for future wear). Her pants, shirt and overcoat were all from the Salvation Army and were a combined cost of $27. Her jewelry was her own, so her total spent on the holiday look was just $37.

Lindsay: Lindsay went for “nothing from [her] closet” (except a pair of tights), and still stayed under $100, including shoes. Her boots and sweater were from Community Aid (total cost under $13). The rest of the ensemble — including jewelry — was from TJ Maxx, for a total just under $74. Lindsay also beat the budget at just under $90 for the whole ensemble.
