Lancaster Lebanon Habitat for Humanity

When families have a safe, stable, and affordable place to call home, they have the space they need to thrive.
Lancaster Lebanon Habitat for Humanity builds homes for local families in need of a decent place to live. And, through Habitat’s first-time homebuyers program, families learn the skills they need for long-term success as homeowners, taking financial literacy classes, home maintenance workshops and helping to build their home. Equipped with new skills and know-how after hundreds of “sweat equity” hours, families purchase their homes from Habitat with a zero-percent interest mortgage tailored to meet their budget.
Homeownership is the single most important pathway to building wealth for lower-income families. When families can save and achieve financial security, they have the chance to pursue new opportunities, such as higher education, career growth, and job training, which can impact generations to come. They have the space they need to create their own brighter futures. Simply put — homeownership is a game changer.
Shamaica (pictured here, front center) looks forward to the day when her young children have a safer, healthier place to live and grow. She works side-by-side with volunteers on her future home in Lancaster City every week, helping to transform a condemned property into a safe, warm, and dry home for her young family. She looks forward to the day that she can make her own choices about how she manages her home and the money she can save through an affordable mortgage.
Lancaster Lebanon Habitat has been building homes for more than three decades. But today we are doing even more. In response to the urgent need for affordable housing in our community, Habitat is working hard to increase our construction pace, creating more homeownership opportunities for local families within the communities we love.
But to do this, Habitat needs your help.
Every person has the ability to build a Habitat home. Your time spent working on Habitat construction sites or at the Lancaster Habitat ReStore can open windows to affordable homeownership. Your donation can unlock doors to homeownership that were previously shut. And your advocacy for safe, warm, and decent homes can help others to understand that when we invest in affordable housing, our community becomes a stronger, more vibrant place to live.
Right now, Habitat is building and renovating homes in Lancaster and Lebanon Counties. Visit our website at LancasterLebanonHabitat.org to find out how you can help transform lives through decent, affordable Habitat homes.
